3/3/2010 6:11:45 AM From: Ash You miss the point; President Obama was a manufactured politician -all hype and non trousers, from the word go.
The question the Republicans need to ask is: how did we allow such an obvious fraud get elected?
The fact that President Obama used all the media tools available, as did Reagan, Bush Snr, Clinton and Bush Jnr in no way excuses the fact that Opposition's don't win electiopns; governments lose them.

3/4/2010 2:27:44 AM From: Ash Merc, President Obama is a fraud in the same way Tony Blair was a fraud in the UK (and I voted for him 3 times) in that he uses soundbite politics and a winning personal charm, against a less adroit opponent, to mask the fact that he really has no actual vision beyond winning the election.
I'm not grumbling about President Obama from a right-wing angle - as I said I voted Labour at the last 3 elections - but having endured the bitter realisation of what Tony Blair was really about I just think the President is cast in the same mould.
BTW, it took 3 elections to find Blair out because the British economy in 1997 was entering an almost unprecedented boom, President Obama has inherited an economy in not such a rosy state.

3/5/2010 5:09:40 AM From: PapaBryant True Ash, but the Tories are no better.
Cameron's cave-in on the promised Lisbon referendum was more electorally self-destructive than Bush 41's cave-in on 'Read my lips. No new taxes.', as evidenced by the Tories slipping in the polls. It is now clear that the so-called Conservative party is totally useless, they're nothing more than the centrist wing of the UK's EU party. Those on either side of the pond who wish to see the restoration of a independent UK, or at least an independent and sovereign England, shouldn't even consider supporting Tory.
In effect, there is no Labour, there is no Tory, there is no LDP, there is only the BNP on the left, the EU party in the center and UKIP on the right. Those are the only relevant choices for UK voters, which comes down to voting UKIP or abstimmen auf Deutsch.

3/7/2010 8:17:10 AM From: Ash If Cameron loses (or at least fails to get an overall majority) then he'll have somehow conspired to f*** things up against a Prime Minister who is as popular as botulism.
And he's done this by refusing to spell out exactly what the Conservative's policies are on anything so people are just assuming he's a giant P.R. concept i.e trying to be all things to everyone - and having been burnt by Tony Blair I don't think the electorate will buy it again.
As someone said of Cameron: he says he likes Britain as it is, not how it was, but at the same time talks of Broken Britain; so which do you really believe, David?
