We All Be CookinAuthor:mercury Viewed:  147
Help me use my shrimp! Please?
I've got a bag of frozen prepared jumbo shrimp in the freezer left over from Christmas. I want to use it up, but I don't know what the hell to do with it, since it's all cooked and everything already.

I've been craving some scampi for a few days now, but every recipe I've looked at starts with raw shrimp, of course.

What can I do with this stuff, other than dip it in cocktail sauce?

2/3/2010 10:02:02 AM   From:  MrsK   LMAO!!! ^ Good reason to think so wouldn't you say?
2/3/2010 10:02:25 AM   From:  MrsK   I can't help you either though. I'm not a seafood kinda girl.
2/3/2010 10:07:20 AM   From:  mercury   I'm wondering if I thaw it out and broil it with some garlic & butter for a few minutes, if that would be a reasonable facsimile of the real thing...

2/3/2010 10:15:27 AM   From:  MrsK   Probably doing some weirdo Canadian stuff.
2/3/2010 10:15:33 AM   From:  eddo   Hack's trying to talk Emkay into joining his Valentines day killing spree.
2/3/2010 10:16:53 AM   From:  MrsK   Maybe they are playing Hockey together?
2/3/2010 10:16:58 AM   From:  mercury   Is there a big important hockey game going on?

2/3/2010 10:19:27 AM   From:  MrsK   They are playing hookey, watching Hockey, getting Hickey's.
2/3/2010 10:34:36 AM   From:  emkay64   We watched hockey for a while. Now we're playing hockey while Hack tries to give me hickies...but he can't skate....so he sits there and cries while I skate circles around him and laff, laff, laff.
2/3/2010 10:35:23 AM   From:  BCAR   Quick and easy: Put them on a kabob stick, brush with a little olive oil some seasoning and throw them on the George Foreman grill for a minute or so.

Make up some angel hair pasta with the sauce of your choice. Then toss the cooked shrimp in with it.

Chop it up and make shrimp salad out of it for sandwiches.

2/3/2010 10:41:08 AM   From:  mercury   I haven't used the Foreman grill in ages! I wonder if it still works?

Are you channeling Bubba Gump, B?
2/3/2010 10:46:53 AM   From:  MrsK   lol@Em!
2/3/2010 10:47:14 AM   From:  MrsK   I love my George Foreman grill. Yummmmers for Chicken and Steak!
2/3/2010 10:54:00 AM   From:  BCAR   Bubba did know everything there was to know about the shrimpin business.
2/3/2010 10:54:52 AM   From:  Chi   I don't eat shrimp, but my daughter likes to sautee it and make shrimp fajitas and a whole bunch of other stuff with it. Shrimp soup, shrimp and rice....
2/3/2010 10:58:50 AM   From:  Hack   dammit.... Emkay knows me too well
2/3/2010 10:59:07 AM   From:  Ali   Most of the recipes I know start with raw shrimp.

BCAR has a good idea with quickly grilling them. Like he said, you can add them to pasta, make them into shrimp salad....or make a shrimp caesar salad.

While I was in New Orleans, I had BBQ shrimp which actually consisted of baking raw shrimp in butter, worchestire sauce and creole seasoning. It was so simple, but so good! I'm not sure how that would translate with pre-cooked shrimp, though.

2/3/2010 12:12:36 PM   From:  LiquidSnake   Did anyone catch the joke with Chi's response? Sounded like Forrest Gump
2/3/2010 12:22:43 PM   From:  mercury   more like Bubba, actually I already used it for B's reply
2/3/2010 12:23:30 PM   From:  LiquidSnake   Bah, I'm slow on the uptake today lol.
2/3/2010 12:23:48 PM   From:  LiquidSnake   I meant the movie though in general, not the character.
2/3/2010 12:32:25 PM   From:  Chi   I didn't even mean it that way when I responded-lol But Bubba is right, you can prepare shrimp a lot of different ways. Well any type of meat or food really
2/3/2010 12:52:40 PM   From:  LiquidSnake   Everybody associates shrimp with Bubba
2/3/2010 2:10:04 PM   From:  eddo   LS, quit hitting on Chi!
2/5/2010 6:55:51 AM   From:  Kethria   Paella?
2/7/2010 11:35:51 AM   From:  PillsburyDoughboy   make a shrimp alfredo all you need is the sauce and noodles and add the shrimp tail off of course or add to shrimp flavored ramen
