Starbucks closing 600 stores
Complete list of Starbucks to be closed

Starbucks Corp. has named all 600 company-owned stores it plans to close in a bid to boost its business and weed out unprofitable locations.

The company announced 50 stores late last week, saying those stores would be closed by the end of July. Those include four stores in Alabama, seven in Minnesota and eight in California.

wowsa, trouble in cappuccino paradise?

In Calgary, the local places with good coffee are slammed and starbucks is rarely busy anymore. It's been coming for awhile now. Perhaps they could put some good baking in there. It's always, dry, nasty and outrageously priced.

Anyway, they're not closing any near where I live, so I won't have to miss it at all (I like having the option of going). The thing about Starbucks is that their mixed coffee drinks (caramel macchiato, YUM- even though it's really just a caramel latte) are good, but their regular coffee seems almost too thick to me. We bought a Keurig for home, and we have a Tassimo for my husband's office on campus, and we can make Starbucks coffee in both- the Starbucks coffee is not nearly as good as other kinds we buy. Plus, in the Keurig, I can make really good, fresh coffee for about 50 cents a cup (less than that if I buy a bag of Starbucks beans from the grocery store and use the filter instead of a pre-filled K-cup) and it tastes better than most of the coffee I can get anywhere else.
7/21/2008 5:59:50 AM   From:  BCAR   Overpriced, poor business practices, decided to exit the breakfast sandwich business leaving the company I work for stuck with capacity and raw material inventory and commodity contracts (at least they agreed to take inventory in the pipeline). frack em
