Man Who Lives with Bears, part 2
So I was busy making myself breakfast this morning, turned on the tv, and they were talking about this guy, Charlie Vandergaw, who literally lives with bears 6 months out of the year, every year, for the past 20 years. The reason why I called the post part 2 is this isn't a new idea, another bear lover guy was(along with his girlfriend) mauled and eaten(Timothy Treadwell).

I think this is idiotic and insane. The other guy lived with them for 13 years and he still got killed and eaten, so time obviously doesn't mean anything in regards to a wild animal such as a friggin bear. Charlie's arguement to that though is Timothy lived with them in thier environment, while he built a cabin and has them come to him, so they are going into his territory. I still think he could be killed any day though.

What do you guys think of this?

7/8/2008 6:58:02 AM   From:  mercury   I was thinking kids, but "psychotic spouse" is probably a little more accurate.
7/8/2008 7:04:23 AM   From:  LiquidSnake   You can leave a pyschotic spouse though. This guy goes out of his way asking to get killed.
7/8/2008 7:06:17 AM   From:  mercury   he can leave the bears. he chooses not to. same as the person returning home to the psychotic spouse every night after work.
7/8/2008 7:07:47 AM   From:  LiquidSnake   I guess. People are stupid...
7/8/2008 7:27:27 AM   From:  emkay64   *sigh* The dude isn't a fukking bear. Timothy Treadwell was a maroon and not a very good documentarian (I think I just made up a word there). A bear will have a bad day and rip his head off too.....and he'll deserve it....dumbass.

7/8/2008 9:19:36 PM   From:  Chi   Besides it being crazy it sounds kinda...weird from your whole link that I read. Maybe I have a bad mind, but tell me if this doesn't sound...weird - "One bear in particular caught Charlie's eye. He said: She was the cutest grizzly I ever saw and her brother was the most beautiful. "She just was very timid at first but I could see she was lonely. She just liked to play and I'd feed her." Charlie became so fond of the bear it wasn't long before he took their relationship to a new level. He said: "Every time she approached me she'd drag herself on her belly. "One day I decided I would be fair about the whole thing. I got down and dragged myself to her. The first thing that touched was our noses. "She eventually let me feed her out of my hand." Before long Charlie developed the confidence to forge relationships with bigger and more dangerous bears. "I'm just getting more and more comfortable being in the presence of them," he said. While Charlie is living with the bears his wife Lanette is home alone for a six month stretch without so much as a phone call. She said: "Sometimes it would be nice to have him home doing things but we get it done. "Some years are worse than others for being separated but absence makes the heart grow fonder and I guess that's the way you have to look at it because that's the way it's going to be for a while." Despite Lanette's loneliness Charlie is adamant he will not stop living with the bears. He said: "It's going to take an awful lot for me not to want to come out here. He describes living with the bears as a turn on. "I think most people try to do something that turns them on and gets them away from the every day humdrum of our existence. I've just taken it over the edge. I find this to be exhilarating." and on...:p
