Animals Gone WildAuthor:Ali Viewed:  213
Kethria, I need advice about a crappy situation.
Miss Kitty has a new bad habit. Ever since I had her declawed a little over a month ago, she's started pooping in my bathtub. I used the recycled newspaper litter immediately after her surgery and thought maybe she didn't like the texture of that, so a couple of weeks ago I changed back to the regular litter but she's still doing it.

I'm really sick of cleaning up poo and sterilizing my bathtub every day. Do you know what would cause her to do this?

4/30/2008 2:08:24 PM   From:  Ali   I tried. It didn't work.
4/30/2008 2:08:43 PM   From:  mercury   better than your bed... that's all I'm sayin'.
4/30/2008 2:10:29 PM   From:  Ali   I agree...lol.
4/30/2008 3:54:36 PM   From:  Feckless Wench   She's just paying you back for declawing her.....LOL! Keep the plug in the bath, the cat can smell 'wet' from the drain and will therefore poop in it.
4/30/2008 8:27:39 PM   From:  eddo   Stick her outside in the snow. 2 hours later she'll do whatever you say. I know I would...
4/30/2008 8:54:38 PM   From:  Peanuts   How old is Miss Kitty? Some cats just get senile and there's nothing you can do.
4/30/2008 8:56:45 PM   From:  Ash Of Pompeii   Eddo-- isn't that already the case?
4/30/2008 10:25:43 PM   From:  Ali   Peanuts - she will be a year old around June.
4/30/2008 10:26:30 PM   From:  Ali   eddo - there is no snow left, though we could use some moisture. It's like the dust bowl around here. Not good.
4/30/2008 11:06:35 PM   From:  eddo   No snow? My sis is on her way to your neck of the woods tomorrow, and around the University of ND there is snow still. If she gets there and doesn't freeze her ass off I am gonna be upset....
5/1/2008 12:42:50 AM   From:  PapaBryant   She's pissed. Teach you to declaw the cat.
5/1/2008 7:34:57 AM   From:  Kethria   Is she still peeing in the litterbox? There are a few brands of litter that contain pheromones that attract them to the box. You might try leaving the litter box in the tub, then after a week move it out next to the tub, then move it a foot a week to the normal spot. Use Nature's Miracle and leave a bit in the tub. That will kill the smell. Um... maybe call me today? You have my number.
5/1/2008 7:35:31 AM   From:  Kethria   Ooh also there is a spray "Be calm'd" that can destress them and an additive to water that also relaxes them.
5/1/2008 7:35:53 AM   From:  Kethria   How many litterboxes do you have? For 3 cats you should probably have 5 of them.
5/2/2008 9:19:16 PM   From:  Ali   I have one big litter box which has never been a problem before because I change it constantly. Now when I catch her wanting to use the tub I say "No!" and then take her to the litter box. After she poops in there, then I praise her with a treat. So far it seems to be working.
5/4/2008 5:23:38 AM   From:  Kethria   hooray!
